Open boxes and weak packaging can fail when gripped from the side or lifted by vacuum. OnRobot’s webinar announcement highlights the 2FGP20 Fork, which supports boxes from underneath and combines an electric design with integrated vacuum for slip sheets.

Current impact

The immediate benefit is a standard tooling option for applications that otherwise need custom engineering. The company’s claim of easier deployment should be evaluated against the actual package range, payload and pallet pattern.

Potential greater impact

If one tool can handle several difficult box types reliably, integrators could reduce changeover work and shorten deployment. The greater impact depends on package stability, access beneath the load and the complete robot cycle, not the gripper alone.

What would establish progress

Watch repeated handling with real packaging, including damaged or partially filled boxes. The useful result is a stable, correctly built pallet with low intervention and product damage. A catalog description cannot establish that outcome for every customer’s materials.
